Summary of consultation process |
Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council worked with stakeholders for the transport engineering sector to develop a qualification that meets the needs of the sector. At the time of the development the sector used the New Zealand Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Trade) (Level 4) [Ref: 2714] and the New Zealand Certificate in Engineering Fabrication (Trade) (Level 4) [Ref: 2719] qualifications and programmes to train apprentices. These qualifications do not cover the blend of skill sets required for the industry, a combination of both with the opportunity to add additional skill sets, was what the industry sought. The development is required to combine engineering fabrication, mechanical engineering, and transport skill sets identified by the sector as necessary requirements for the industry. Industry, members of the New Zealand Truck Trailer Manufacturers Federation (NZTTMF), and subject matter experts provided feedback and input into the development the new qualification. |
