Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council (Waihanga Ara Rau WDC) reviewed the unit standards listed above.

Summary
Waihanga Ara Rau WDC reviewed these unit standards in line with the scheduled 5-year review cycle to update them to align to current industry practice, and to ensure that they are fit for purpose.
A series of Technical Advisory Group (TAG) meetings were held between November 2022 and November 2023 to complete this review. The TAG consisted of industry and provider representatives with consent to assess, and representatives from industry stakeholder organisations including the Plumbing, Gasfitting, and Drainlaying Board and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
Following the review, public consultation was held in November and December 2023. Feedback received was reviewed and decisions were made in consultation with the TAG group representatives resulting in the changes below.
Main changes
· Guidance information, legislation, performance criteria and range statements were amended across the suite of unit standards to reflect the content and scope of the work, and to align with current industry practice.
· Minor wording changes were made across the suite for clarity and to meet current industry terms.
· Unit standard 30529 had the title amended and credits were reduced to 3 to accurately reflect the notional hours required for learning and assessment completion.
· Unit standards 30531, and 30578 were designated as expiring without replacement. This is due to the maintenance component not being completed at the time of installation and this was a barrier for completion.
· Three new unit standards (33326, 33328 and 33330) have been developed with separate installation and maintenance outcomes.
· Unit standard 30539 was designated as expiring and replaced by two new unit standards (33357 and 33358) with the installation outcomes and maintenance outcomes separated.
· Unit standards 30579, 30601, 30612 and 30613 had their titles amended to better reflect the outcomes and to align with current industry terms.
· Unit standard 30600 had the title amended to reflect industry terms, and the credits were increased to 5 to accurately reflect the notional hours required for learning and assessment completion.
Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2028
