Registration of Performing Arts Teaching skill standards
Toi Mai Workforce Development Council has completed the development of three skill standards to be listed in the Performing Arts Teaching domain.
Date new versions published November 2024
Planned review date December 2029
Summary
These standards were developed with a view to supporting products that can be offered to an inclusive range of ākonga/learners, regardless of their ethnicity, gender, identity or abilities who regularly engage in creative performing art sessions and want to develop skills in assisting a lead tutor. To ensure equitable access and full participation, these standards include critical elements of connection, engagement and inclusion tailored to each ākonga/learner’s needs and ability.
The development of these standards was overseen by a specialist advisory group consisting of those with appropriate skills and knowledge working inclusively with ākonga/learners in schools, tertiary training and community workshops within the performing arts. The advisory group convened in February 2024 with further meetings occurring between March and July 2024. The draft standards were distributed for further consultation in late July 2024 to a larger stakeholder group that included both providers and schools.
