Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council has completed the early review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published November 2024
Planned review date December 2029
Summary
An early review was requested by industry of glazing standards to address changes in compliance requirements and specialisation in glazing services provision which present scope of work issues and barriers to completion for current learners.
A Technical Advisory Group (TAG) representing the national glazing association, regional residential and main centre commercial, and residential glazing businesses were consulted on changes to the existing suite of standards.
The TAG met in March 2024 face to face and again through a series of online meetings in April, May and June 2024. Proposed changes to standards were made available to the industry and providers through the Waihanga Ara Rau website, and Window and Glass Association membership.
Main changes
· Credit values for five existing standards have increased as recommended by industry due to advancement of glass products, technical skill demands and compliance expectations.
· Eight existing standards are expiring and will not be replaced.
· Three new unit standards have been developed to recognise changes in technical practices in the glazing industry.
Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2025.
