Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council has completed the review of the 33 unit standards listed above and the registration of 28 skill standards listed below.

Summary

Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council undertook a scheduled combined review of fibreboard packaging unit standards and the following qualifications:

New Zealand Certificate in Fibreboard Packaging (Level 2) [Ref: 1818]

New Zealand Certificate in Fibreboard Packaging (Level 3) [Ref: 1819]

New Zealand Certificate in Fibreboard Packaging (Level 4) [Ref: 1820]

Regular consultation meetings were held online from September 2023 to July 2024 with a technical advisory group comprised of employers, training providers and representatives from industry association PrintNZ.  Industry stakeholders identified that the fibreboard packaging unit standards are generally working well so most unit standards were replaced skill standards.  Several unit standards were set to expire as there has been no usage in the past five years and the advisory group identified they wouldn’t be used in the future.  Content and guidance information were refreshed where required to reflect current industry practices and terminology.

Main changes

· 24 unit standards were expired and replaced by 24 skill standards.

· Unit standards 27810 and 27786 were expired and replaced with skill standard 40333.

· Unit standards 27788 and 27792 were expired and replaced with skill standard 40336.

· Unit standard 27807 was expired and a new skill standard (40350) was developed. The credit value was increased from 5 to 15 credits in response to feedback from industry stakeholders that this is the appropriate credit value for producing speciality board.

· Unit standard 27800 was expired and replaced with skill standard 40343.  The credit value was increased from 10 to 15 credits in response to feedback from industry stakeholders that this is a more appropriate amount of time required for learning and assessment activities due to the technical difficulty involved.

· Three unit standards were expired without replacement.

Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2027

Impact on Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR)

The CMR has been moved to CMR 0013 where any skill standards replace existing unit standards listed under CMR 0005.
