Summary

Hanga-Aro-Rau Workforce Development Council undertook a review of the Glass Processing domain unit standards from March 2023 as part of the 5-year review cycle.  Regular Technical Advisory Group (TAG) meetings were held with a wide range of industry stakeholders, including representatives from industry association Window and Glass Association NZ (WGANZ), employers, training providers, assessment writers and subject matter experts.  New Glass Processing unit standards were developed as they traditionally used joinery and glazing unit standards, making it difficult for learners to achieve the required outcomes.

All feedback received was incorporated and endorsed for registration by the stakeholders in late December 2023 and early January 2024.

Main changes

·     Guidance information was updated across the suite of unit standards.

·     Standard setting body information was updated from Competenz to Hanga-Aro-Rau Workforce Development Council.

·     Performance criteria and range statements were updated to reflect current industry practice and legislation accurately.

·     Language was simplified for clarity of intent and made consistent across the set.

·     Nine unit standards were developed to allow providers and the industry to better target their training.

·     Credit changes in unit standards 20493 and 20505 were made to better align with required learning and the increased technology procedures and processes to increase productivity and quality.

·     The titles of unit standards 20492, 20493, 26035 and 28760 were updated for clarity.

Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2026

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2026
