The Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council has completed the review of the standards listed above.

Date new versions published                              September 2024

Summary

Industry is increasingly using automation to meet the need for high volume, repeatable processes to reduce the amount of fatigue-inducing manual labour.  Feedback from industry indicates that the current unit standards are not fit for purpose.  Suppliers offer in-house training on robotic equipment, but this does not offer a formal pathway for learners.  The development of a new skill standard, that can be included in a range of programmes, connects this learning with formal training credentials.

Main changes

·      One new skill standard was developed to meet industry requirements for formal robotics training.

·      Four unit standards were expired as they are no longer fit for purpose.

·      The next planned review date for skill standard 40215 is 31 December 2029.

Category D standards will expire at the end of December 2026

Key to review category

A

Dates changed, but no other changes are made - the new version of the standard carries the same ID and a new version number

B

Changes made, but the overall outcome remains the same - the new version of the standard carries the same ID and a new version number

C

Major changes that necessitate the registration of a replacement standard with a new ID

D

Standard will expire and not be replaced
