Summary of development and consultation process |
|
Toitū te Waiora Workforce Development Council developed these qualifications in partnership with the disability community and the wider disability support sector. Initial engagement during the 2024 review of the Health and Wellbeing qualifications showed that the existing qualifications did not meet disability sector training needs. Building on this, Toitū te Waiora worked with disabled people, whānau, and subject matter experts from across the disability support sector to identify what would strengthen workforce capability and create clear learning and employment pathways. Engagement included targeted outreach, co-design workshops, regional hui and workshops, national webinars, and written feedback. Sector consultation between July and September 2025 confirmed strong support for dedicated, staircased disability support qualifications, leading to the development and listing of the new qualifications. |
