Registration of Property Maintenance skill standards

The Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council has registered skill standards in the new Property Maintenance domain.

Summary

Waihanga Ara Rau has developed five new skill standards for people responsible for completing exterior cleaning work.  These skill standards were developed to address a need identified by the Exterior Cleaning industry for people who have the skills and knowledge to complete exterior cleaning work to expected safety and technical standards.  These standards contribute to the New Zealand Certificate in Exterior Cleaning (Level 3) [Ref: 5550].

Waihanga Ara Rau consulted with industry representatives to develop these skill standards.  Technical Advisory Group meetings began in February 2025 and finished in July 2025.

Main changes

· Five new skill standards were developed to recognise skills required for exterior cleaning, and to contribute to the New Zealand Certificate in Exterior Cleaning (Level 3) [Ref: 5550].
