Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council has completed the revision of unit standard 12942 and rollover and revision of unit standard 25116.

Summary

Hanga Aro Rau conducted this revision, and rollover and revision in response to feedback received from a provider identifying issues limiting the ability of learners to complete these units.

There have been recent changes in the Boat Building sector impacting the roles that would undertake the tasks covered in unit standards 12942 and 25116.  In accordance with the feedback received and consultation with industry, updates to the guidance information, outcomes and performance criteria were required to make these units more accessible and current.

Main changes

12942

· Outcome statements and performance criteria have been updated to reflect current industry practice and current terminology used.

· The range for outcome 1 was expanded and repositioned under the guidance information section.

· New guidance information was added, stating that frameworks may be external or internal in their construction method.

25116

· Outcome statements and performance criteria have been updated to reflect current industry practice and current terminology used.

· Definition for components has been added to provide consistency and clarity.

· A number stipulating the minimum demonstrations required has been added to some performance criteria range statement, meeting what industry would consider competent.

· Title has been changed to allow leaners to demonstrate their ability on either option.

· The planned review date has been extended from 31 December 2022 to 31 December 2026 to align with the next scheduled review of the Marina Operations and Services unit standards.
