Summary of development and consultation process |
|
The qualification is a new development facilitated by Ringa Hora Services Workforce Development Council in collaboration with New Zealand-based international flight training providers. The development was driven by the continued desire from international airlines and learners to obtain New Zealand Commercial Pilot Licence training for pilots being trained in the New Zealand environment, with the option to gain specialist knowledge and skills required for specific roles and contexts, dependant on international market requirements. Ringa Hora consulted with industry and provider representatives across Aotearoa New Zealand with online meetings, face-to-face meetings, and surveys. Meetings were held over 8 months from March 2024 to November 2024 to draft the qualification, ensure compliance with New Zealand Civil Aviation Rules and Immigration New Zealand’s visa rules, and to ensure the needs of multiple international aviation markets would be met. Consultation on the final draft qualification was held in November 2024. All respondents and flight training providers supported listing of the new qualification. |
