Summary of development/review and consultation process |
|
Meetings with stakeholders were held online from June to September 2024 to review the current qualifications and develop a solution that meets the needs of industry. The stakeholder group consisted of representatives from an industry group the wider fashion industry, and the current and former providers. As a result of the review, it was decided to strengthen the one qualification currently offered to include essential elements of the other qualifications that are not currently being delivered. The New Zealand Diploma in Apparel and Fashion Technology (Level 6) [Ref: 2606] will be discontinued. The stakeholder group felt that at this level, learners would be more interested in fashion design. The decision was made to work with Toi Mai Workforce Development Council when they review the New Zealand Diploma in Fashion Design (Level 6) [Ref: 2640] to ensure it include technical elements. This ensures that learners have one clear pathway from Level 3 to Level 7. |

New Zealand Certificate in Apparel and Fashion Technology (Level 4) [Ref: 2607]. · GPO 1 credit value was reduced from 80 credits to 50 credits. · GPO 2 and 3 were developed to include concepts from the replaced New Zealand Certificate in Apparel and Fashion Technology (Fabric Cutting) [Ref: 3178] and the New Zealand Certificate in Apparel and Fashion Technology (Patternmaking) [Ref: 2608]. · Because of the changes above, all 3 qualifications were replaced, and a new qualification was listed. New Zealand Diploma in Apparel and Fashion Technology (Level 6) [Ref: 2606] · This qualification will be expired without replacement. |
