Summary
The review of the unit standards listed above was triggered by the regular 5-year review cycle, and part of the review of the New Zealand Diploma in Marine Vessel Project Management (New Build, and Refit) (Level 6) [Ref: 3127-3].
Hanga-Aro-Rau carried out the review to better align the unit standards to the graduate profile outcomes of the newly developed New Zealand Diploma in Vessel Technology Project Management (Level 5) [Ref: 5115] qualification. Existing unit standards were reviewed, and development of new unit standards took place between August 2022 and February 2025. Industry, providers and subject matter experts provided feedback and input into the review of these unit standards through online meetings and emails.
Main changes
· Unit standard 9924 is set to expire and will not be replaced.
· Titles of unit standards 26093 and 30202 were amended. The term vessel technology with a definition was added to all unit standards.
· Guidance Information was updated to reflect current legislation and definitions.
· Eight new unit standards were developed to reflect what a learner needs to be, do and know to manage vessel technology projects.
· Standard Setting Body was changed from New Zealand Marine and Composites Industry Training Organisation to Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council.
Category D unit standard will expire at the end of December 2027
