Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published June 2025
Planned review date December 2029
Summary
Waihanga Ara Rau Workforce Development Council, in consultation with the relevant provider and industry stakeholders, has reviewed the expiring unit standards listed above to support their continued use in Aluminium Joinery programmes. Two glazing unit standards were scheduled to expire in December 2025. However, it was identified that the skills covered by these standards remain necessary, with only minor updates required.
These unit standards require learners to install glass using two different frame systems. However, learners in Aluminium Joinery programmes work exclusively with aluminium frames. By updating the content of the unit standards to focus specifically on aluminium joinery, we ensure alignment with current industry practice and preserve a relevant, fit-for-purpose training pathway. Installation of glass into other types of window frames is already addressed in existing unit standards.
Due to time constraints, these unit standards have not been transitioned into skill standards. However, their review date has been aligned with other glazing skill standards, and they will be developed into skill standards at that time.
Main changes
· Unit standard titles were changed to reflect a focus on aluminium joinery.
· Last dates of assessment were removed from both unit standards.
· Range statements were adjusted to better align with aluminium joinery industry practices.
· CMRs reference numbers were updated to 0120.
Impact on Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR)
The unit standards have been moved from CMR 0048 to CMR 0120.
