Summary of development and consultation process

These new qualifications respond to an identified industry need for small work-based qualifications which address the current industry shortage of below-the- line crew workers.  

This development also is an action arising from the 2023 Toi Mai Screen industry workforce development plan (Te Wao Nui o Toi).

Toi Mai has worked with industry and providers to develop these qualifications.

Key phases in the development process included:

· Industry wānanga held in Wellington in September 2022 attended by industry, guild and provider representatives to discuss the current state of the industry, future trends, opportunities and training needs.

· Ongoing consultation with providers, industry, relevant associations and guilds.

· Wider public with consultation with industry and providers in 2024, directly and through Toi Mai’s website.

Main changes resulting from the development process

Two new qualifications designed for work-based learning have been developed and listed.
