Summary of review and consultation process

Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering, and Logistics Workforce Development Council met with employers and Te Pūkenga subsidiaries between July 2024 and March 2025 to review the qualification listed above, and associated unit standards.

A Qualifications Advisory Group (QAG) of industry representatives was established to inform the review. Online meetings for the QAG were held to discuss industry training needs. The QAG confirmed that the qualification was working as intended and remains fit for purpose with some minor changes required to ensure currency.

Main changes resulting from the review process

· Strategic Purpose Statement updated to include meat ‘processing’ and ‘food processing’ to broaden scope and capture other sectors.

· Graduate Profile Outcomes (GPOs)(core) changed to include the wider sectors of meat processing and meat product manufacturing. 

· Graduate Profile Outcomes (strands) changed to active verbs. The intent of the GPOs remain unchanged.

· Grading strand credit value reduced from 40 to 20. This credit reduction has had no impact on the overall credit range of the qualification

· Qualification Specifications section updated to reflect evidence requirements and general conditions for programmes. 

· Qualification award statement, evidence for consistency, specifications and transition information updated.
