Summary of development/review and consultation process |
An early review of the New Zealand Certificate in Glazing (Level 4) [Ref 2945-3] was initiated by Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council at Industry’s request. Industry expressed concern that the qualification credits would not result in a programme that would allow sufficient time for learners to meet the outcomes and purpose of the qualification. A stakeholder group was formed with representatives from industry, BCITO, and the Glass and Glazing Institute. This group met during April and May 2025 to undertake an urgent review of the qualification. The stakeholder group confirmed satisfaction with the purpose, structure and outcomes of the qualification but agreed to increase the credit values of the graduate outcomes, and overall qualification to reflect the time required to achieve them. The significant changes to these credit values required a new qualification. To allow for providers to transition their programmes to the new qualification, an extension to the last date of assessment for the replaced qualification was required. |
Main changes resulting from the development/review process |
The overall credits for the New Zealand Certificate in Glazing (Level 4) were determined as needing to be increased from 120 to 210. Due to the scale of change, a new qualification was listed. The New Zealand Certificate in Glazing (Level 4) [Ref: 2945] was replaced and will be discontinued. The New Zealand Certificate in Glass (Level 3) [Ref: 2944] was republished to extend the last date of assessment from 31 December 2025 to 30 June 2026. |
