Date new versions published May 2025
Planned review date December 2030
Summary
Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council initiated a combined review of the extractives suite of qualifications and associated unit standards in the Extractive Industries Management and Underground Extraction domains. This industry has undergone extensive health and safety reviews resulting in more stringent regulatory requirements identifying specific unit standards required for compliance. The Technical Advisory Groups (TAG) consisted of industry, regulatory bodies and providers who have consent to assess.
For consistency of provision and for regulatory purposes, where there were minor amendments to unit standards these have been retained, and with standards with major changes skill standards have been developed as required.
Main changes
· Standard Setting Body was changed from MITO to Hanga-Aro-Rau Workforce Development Council.
· All unit standards were updated in line with current industry practices, standards, Acts and regulations.
· Terminology was updated to reflect industry standards and practical applicability.
Extractive Industries Management
· Unit standards 7143, 8902 and 28793 were set to expire and replaced by new skill standard 40721.
· Unit standard 17693’s title was changed, a prerequisite was added, and outcome 4 was updated.
Underground Extraction
· Range statements and performance criteria were updated in unit standards 15662, 30898 and 30899.
· Titles were changed in unit standards 15666, and 30899.
Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2027
