Summary

 

These unit standards were reviewed as part of the review of the New Zealand Certificate in Power Boat Systems Servicing and Repair (Technician) (Level 4) [Ref: 3848], the New Zealand Certificate in Power Boat Rigging (Level 4) [Ref: 3847] and the New Zealand Certificate in Yacht Rig Structures (Level 4) [Ref: 3126].  This review was triggered by the regular 5-year review cycle.

 

The review process was undertaken between August 2024 and February 2025 and involved a provider and industry stakeholder representatives.

 

Unit standards were reviewed and updated so that they are in line with current industry practice and to ensure they are fit for purpose.

 

Main changes

 

·     Guidance Information was updated to reflect current legislation and assessment information, and definitions were added and updated for clarity.

·     The titles of unit standards 15450, 15451, 15454, 15458, 15461, 15462,15463, 15465, 15466, 31201and 31208 were updated to include new terminologies.

·     A shift in terminology across all unit standards from the words trailer boat to power boat to include all on water boats not just boats that can go onto a trailer.

·     Standard Setting Body was changed from New Zealand Marine and Composites Industry Training Organisation to Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council.

 

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2027
