Summary

Waihanga Ara Rau has completed a review of these unit standards to address industry concerns about their previously assigned credit value.

This review was initiated at the request of industry who identified that the credit value assigned to these standards did not reflect the notional hours required to achieve them to the standard expected of a trade competent glazing installer. 

Waihanga Ara Rau also identified that several previous unit standards related to glazing installation were replaced by these more comprehensive unit standards. However, these updated standards significantly reduced the overall number of credits without reducing the expected requirement. This validated industry concerns that the reduction in credit value would disadvantage learners and did not reflect industry needs.

Consultation with industry representatives and the only provider were conducted in April and May 2025 via email and online hui alongside the review of the New Zealand Certificate in Glazing (Level 4) [Ref: 2945]. Stakeholder representatives confirmed the changes required to ensure that the unit standards reflect the expectations of people awarded these standards.

Main changes

· Credit values of unit standards 2062, 33148, 33427 and 33428 were increased to reflect the notional hours required to achieve the expected level of competence.

· Assessment guidance information in unit standards 2062, 33148, 33427 and 33428 was revised to support clarity and consistency about the level to which the skills and knowledge in the unit standards needs to be demonstrated and applied.

· Reference information in unit standard 33084 was updated to include essential parts of the relevant New Zealand Standard associated with the unit standard.

· CMR reference was updated to 0120.

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B standards is 30 June 2026.

All unit standards were transferred from CMR 0048 to CMR 0120.
