Date new version published                                                                                               November 2025

Planned review date                                         December 2030

Summary

The Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for the Mines Rescue qualification who conducted the review consisted of industry, regulatory bodies and providers who have consent to assess.  The TAG identified that the above unit standard fills a gap in the training which existing NZ unit standards do not. Consultation for this proposed unit standard was undertaken from July to August 2025 with the Mines Rescue Trust, Bathurst Resources Ltd, ACT Safety, and OceanaGold.

The proposed unit standard serves as an Australian coversheet adopting RIIERR403E – Lead rescue teams to align New Zealand training with international best practice and industry requirements.  This development forms part of the review and redevelopment of the New Zealand Certificate in Mines Rescue (Level 4) with strands in Surface, and Underground (with optional strand in Supervision) [Ref: 2784].
