Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council has completed the reinstatement and revision of the unit standards listed above.

Summary
Unit standards 16974 and 22727 expired in December 2024 because of low usage. However, it ws identified that the standards are needed in the programme leading to the New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Measurement and Control (Level 5) with strands in Process Control, and Process Automation [Ref: 2253].
After discussions with the provider and industry representatives in September 2025, Waihanga Ara Rau completed the reinstatement and revision of these unit standards to allow time for the review of the associated qualification and the development of replacement skill standards. Stakeholders supported the reinstatement and updates for currency. These unit standards are now fit for purpose.
Main changes
· Expired unit standards 16974 and 22727 were reinstated.
· Reference to legislation and relevant International Electrotechnical Commission standard were updated for currency.
· The review date was set at 31 December 2027 for both unit standards.
Impact on Consent and Moderation Requirements
The Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR) references were moved from 0003 to 0120.
