Summary of development and consultation process

The qualification is a new development facilitated by Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council.

The qualification was driven by the need to provide the glass and glazing industry with glaziers who have the skills and knowledge to lead complex glazing installation projects. The glass and glazing industry expressed the need for quality training to recognise these skills

Waihanga Ara Rau consulted with industry representatives across Aotearoa New Zealand to develop the qualification and the mandatory skill standards set out in the qualification, with Technical Advisory Group meetings that started in November 2024, and finished in June 2025, and consultation with wider industry in February 2025.
