Summary of development and consultation process

Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council developed this new qualification through extensive consultation with a broad and representative group of stakeholders from across New Zealand’s swimming pool building sector, including Swimming Pool and Spa Association (SPASA) NZ from April 2024 to August 2025.

This collaboration was driven by the need to address a recognised training gap, provide assurance of quality and durability in swimming pool building and establish a clear pathway for workforce development in this specialised sector.

The qualification is suitable for people working in or new to the swimming pool building industry.
