Summary
The review of these unit standards was carried out by Toi Mai Workforce Development Council during March to June 2025. It was an early review to update the unit standards to align with the updates in recently reviewed Level 4 aquatic qualifications. The review process involved hui with the provider and industry representatives, followed by targeted consultation. It was agreed that the standards remain fit for purpose. Changes were made as detailed below.
Main changes
· The Standard Setting Body details were changed from Skills Active to Toi Mai Workforce Development Council.
· Guidance Information was updated to include latest industry codes and guidelines including Aquatic Facility Guidelines, Managing an Emergency Guidelines and Poolsafe Quality Management Scheme.
· Guidance Information Range Statements were updated in unit standards 31148, 31150 and 31151 to clarify learner and programme requirements.
· Minor changes were made to some performance criteria and range statements in unit standards 31243, 31541 and 31912.
· Definition of ‘Risks’ was removed in unit standard 31243 as it was not used elsewhere in the standard.
· Performance criteria 1.5 was added to unit standard 31540 and its credit value was increased from 20 to 22 to better reflect the content required by industry.
