Summary of republication process

A extension to the Last Date for Assessment (LDA) for superseded version 2 of the qualification above is required to support the completion of workplace-based apprenticeships of up to 42 months. There are currently 347 active learners enrolled in Version 2.

The Industry Skills Body (ISB) confirms that version 2 of the qualification will remain fit for purpose and will continue to meet industry requirements for learners currently enrolled until they complete.

A programme leading to the current version of the qualification was approved by NZQA in December 2025. All new learners are enrolled in Version 3. The requested LDA extension applies only to existing learners and supports an orderly transition to version 3 of the qualification.

 

Main changes resulting from the republication process

Last date for assessment of version 2 was extended from 31 December 2027 to 31 December 2029.

Standard Setting Body details updated from Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council to Manufacturing and Engineering Industry Skills Board, to reflect the VET Reforms.
