Summary

These skill standards were developed by Toi Mai Workforce Development Council in response to industry feedback which identified a need for training in the field of indigenous conservation, and are also actions identified in “Torona Pakiakatia” Toi Mai Workforce Development Plan for Conservators and Curators.

These standards will be components of the proposed new Indigenous Conservation strand in the reviewed New Zealand Certificate in Museum Practice (Level 4) [Ref: 5682].  Feedback was obtained through open consultation on Toi Mai’s website and direct contact with industry.  Feedback received was reviewed and incorporated into the draft skill standards.

Responsibility for these standards was transferred from Toi Mai to the Services ISB as a result of the VET reforms.
