Date new version published                                                                                                  February 2026

Planned review date                                                                                               December 2030

Summary

As part of the seafood review process, it was brought up that there was a gap around biosecurity, this was considered more of an issue for the Aquaculture industry.  Initially biosecurity planning at Level 5 was considered, however, consultation undertaken between Muka Tangata and Aquaculture NZ who in turn consulted with their affiliates, confirmed that the real need was in the operational space, resulting in the development of the skill standard at Level 3.  This round of consultation took place during November of 2024.

The responsibility for this application has been transferred from Muka Tangata Workforce Development Council to the Food and Fibre Industry Skills Board to reflect the VET reforms.
