Summary of review and consultation process |
|
Hanga-Aro-Rau Manufacturing, Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council commenced the review of the Maritime Craft Operation qualifications above in November 2024. The review was to ensure the qualifications continued to be fit-for-purpose for the Maritime Craft Operation industry sectors and to comply with current Maritime NZ requirements. Hanga-Aro-Rau had regular online meetings with Maritime NZ, Industry, Providers, and subject matter experts (Qualifications Advisory Group) providing the feedback and input required for this review. All changes were circulated to a wider stakeholder group for feedback and input into the proposed changes. The Qualifications Advisory Group endorsed the reviewed qualifications in August 2025. |

Main changes resulting from the review process |
|
Overall changes: The strategic purpose statement, and employment, cultural and community pathway, qualification specifications, and transition information were updated in all Maritime Craft Operations qualifications to ensure they remain fit for purpose and reflect the current practices The Graduate profile outcomes (GPOs) were updated to ensure currency. The employment, cultural, community pathway was modified to reflect the Maritime New Zealand requirements. The qualification specifications were updated for currency. The transition information was updated to reflect the sector requirements and allow for the phasing out of the current version of the qualifications.
