Reason for the development/review	The purpose of the review is to ensure the Environment Māori qualifications are relevant, fit for purpose, and meet the aspirations and needs of whānau, hapū, iwi and hapori.

Summary of development/review and consultation process

The Environment Māori qualifications were reviewed in 2025. The Whakaruruhau Working Group members that participated in the review represented Environment Māori subject matter experts.

The mandatory review ensures the qualifications are relevant, fit for purpose and meet the aspirations and needs of whānau, hapū, iwi and hapori.

Wider consultation for feedback was conducted via the NZQA website following the review.

Main changes resulting from the review process

· Te Hiringa o te Taiao (Kaupae 4): change to NZSCED/Whakaraupapa classification to appropriately align it to Tikanga - Maori Customs and for consistency with Rūmakihia te Taiao (Kaupae 6).

· Strategic Purpose Statements: Minor adjustments to align with relevant graduate level descriptors and better reflect the intention of the qualification.

· Graduate Profile Outcomes (GPOs): Updates to include the amendments of ngā mātāpono and minor amendments for clarity and relevance.

· Ngā Mātāpono: Changes for clarity and relevance in an Environment Māori context.
