Summary of review and consultation process

The qualification review was the scheduled five-yearly review. Throughout late 2024 and into 2025, Waihanga Ara Rau Workforce Development Council worked with traction line subject matter experts from KiwiRail and TedRail and stakeholders from Connexis to ensure that the New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Traction Line) remains fit for purpose.

Consultation was undertaken with quarterly Technical Advisory Group meetings where the alignment of graduate profile outcomes to industry needs were discussed in detail.

Responsibility for this qualification was transferred from Waihanga Aro Rau Workforce Development Council to the Energy and Infrastructure Industry Skills Board to reflect the VET reforms.

The changes resulting from this review:

· Qualification title changed to Traction Line Networks to reflect the relevant industry and skillset requirements.

· General conditions for programmes updated.

· Mandatory skill standards embedded.
