Summary
Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council worked with a group of industry representatives to develop replacement skill standards for use in the programme leading to the New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Traction Line) (Level 4) [Ref: 3988]. The project was initiated by email and website posting in November 2024.
Technical advisors reviewed the draft skill standards in November 2025 which were sent for wider industry feedback. Minor changes to the skill standards were required.
Responsibility for the standards was transferred to Energy and Infrastructure Industry Skills Board to reflect VET reforms.
Main changes
· The standard setting body was changed from Waihanga Ara Rau Construction and Infrastructure Workforce Development Council to Energy and Infrastructure Industry Skills Board.
· Five skill standards were developed to replace eight expiring unit standards.
Category C standards will expire at the end of December 2027.
