Summary
The review was undertaken as part of the planned cycle of review of Māori Qualification Services (MQS) unit standards. MQS along with Whakaruruhau, reviewed the Wāhi Tapu unit standards to ensure that they remain fit for purpose, are relevant, and meet the needs and aspirations of ākonga, whānau, hapū, iwi and hapori.
Main changes
The main changes that were made to the standards include the following:
· A Wāhi Tapu definition was added to the Guidance Information of every standard to outline the scope of Wāhi Tapu.
· Minor wording changes have been made to guidance information, outcomes, performance criteria and range statements for relevancy, consistency and to provide clarity for kaiako and ākonga.
· Definitions and legislation relevant to standards have been updated.
· Grammatical errors have been corrected.
· Te Reo Māori versions updated to align with review changes.
· Te Reo Māori titles for bilingual standards restored to primary title.
