The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with foundational technical knowledge and practical skills to begin a career in the boat building, composites, and marine systems industries. It is intended for individuals entering the industry, including school leavers and career changers, and supports hands-on learning in structured environments.
Graduates will be able to work under supervision in entry level positions in the boat building, composites, and marine systems industries. This qualification includes strands in Boat Building, Composites, and Marine Systems. |

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
- Identify foundational knowledge of the boat building, composites, and marine systems industries to apply to a boat building, composites, and marine systems workplace. - Apply health, safety, and sustainability practices in boat building, composites, and marine systems workplaces. - Select and use plant or equipment relevant to tasks in the boat building, composites, and marine systems industries. - Perform basic measurements and calculations relevant to tasks in the boat building, composites, and marine systems industries. - Participate in a team in the boat building, composites, and marine systems industries. Graduates of the Boat Building strand will also be able to: - Produce templates or patterns and apply appropriate materials and construction techniques used in boat building. Graduates of the Composites strand will also be able to: - Prepare pre-form lamination materials, blend resin components, and produce composite laminates using vacuum bagging techniques in composites settings. Graduates of the Marine Systems strand will also be able to: - Operate and maintain marine systems and apply hydraulic principles in marine environments. |
