Strategic Purpose Statement
The strategic purpose of this qualification is to provide the public, private and community health sector with specialised introductory work-ready professional health sector managers. The qualification addresses diverse health sector employer needs such as: health strategies and priorities, health quality management systems, specialised health business requirements and facilitative management approaches and practices. The qualification targets learners with an interest or experience of the health sector wishing to move into a career as a specialised professional health sector manager. The key benefactors of this qualification will be health and medical sector service providers and consumers such as Māori, Pasifika communities. Graduates will benefit the sector by working effectively and optimising the health services that can be provided with finite resources.
Graduate profile
Reflect critically and integrate self-knowledge with applied management theories, emerging concepts and research to formulate a personal and values - based philosophy, goals, plans and strategies to inform and maintain one's applied management capabilities. Apply advanced communication and behavioural competencies to influence and implementconstructive and sustainable change through working collaboratively and empathetically with cross-cultural others in up to two contexts and in the presence of competing perspectives. Analyse, synthesise, critically evaluate and bring to life in health contexts, associative and creative thinking to solve complex and unpredictable issues, problems and emerging challenges. Independently synthesise and integrate and evaluate a range of advanced knowledge, skills, behaviours, thinking capabilities and values to effectively influence and implement holistically constructive change working collaboratively with diverse others. Demonstrate consistently thought and action management informed by reflection on self and others, values, philosophy, theory, and evaluative research and practice-based evidence resulting from robust reflection.

Entry Requirements
Entry is open to degree graduates however those who can demonstrate equivalent practical, professional or educational experience of an appropriate kind may be granted admission. Both national and international learners must be at least 20 years of age at the commencement of studies and will undertake an admission interview that would be held prior to confirmation of enrolment. All applicants will be interviewed as part of the admission process.
International learners who have achieved their qualifications in non-English speaking educational settings must also provide evidence of having achieved an NZQA: IELTS Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5 an equivalent recognised English language standard in the last six months.
