Consultation on simplifying New Zealand qualifications and other credentials

Kia ora, talofa lava, bula vinaka, mālō e lelei and hello!

The reform of vocational education, or RoVE, is the biggest change and transformation of our vocational education system in 35 years.

We want to create a unified vocational education system that will bring together industry, iwi and educators to deliver a workforce which is fit for New Zealand’s needs today and in the future.

RoVE aims to deliver more opportunities for learners to train on-the-job and earn while learning, meaning that workers are not having to sacrifice earning income to further their education. It also seeks to ensure that vocational qualifications support learner mobility and that employers can be confident that all graduates know and can do the same things.

Qualifications and credentials are important building blocks for the development of these changes.

Decisions on the proposals to simplify New Zealand qualifications and other credentials were announced on 14 September 2021.

Thank you to all those people who have participated in this consultation and provided feedback. If you wish to subscribe to future NZQA RoVE updates, please subscribe here.
