Review of Business Law, Financial Skills and Workplace Relations unit standards

During 2020, NZQA National Qualifications Services (NQS) is reviewing unit standards listed on the Directory of Assessment Standards (DAS) in domains Business Law, Financial Skills, and Workplace Relations.  The standards include those directly linked with the New Zealand qualifications in Business and others which are scheduled for review this year.

We invite expressions of interest in participating in the review, either as a member of the Review panel or as part of the supporting Email network.

Review panels

There will be one review panel for each domain, which will include up to six members. Individually each panellist will:

  • have wide expertise, and credibility, prestige, and mana within the sector

  • have direct experience with relevant unit standards

  • understand and be committed to best practice in standards-based assessment

  • be able to work collaboratively for the common good rather than just for their own sector or interests

  • be available for the panel meetings.

Collectively, the panel will as far as possible be representative of all stakeholder groups. Panellists will also be part of the email network.

Panellists are proposed to convene June - July to:

  • examine the current standards and to decide whether/how they need to be amended so that they continue to meet identified needs.

  • where relevant, decide whether other new standards are also needed.

Note:  With the recent events and travel disruptions, we've been considering and planning for alternative methods of conducting the review meetings, including e-meetings if appropriate. We’ll be guided by the Ministry of Health at the time of the decision making including the requirements for non-essential travel.

We pay a fee for service to panellists, including for conference calls and e-meetings, and we meet all travel and accommodation expenses.

If you wish to apply to be a panellist, please email the Application/Nomination (DOCX, 530KB) to nqs@nzqa.govt.nz by Friday 19 June 2020.

Email network

Members of the email network will receive regular updates between meetings with opportunities to contribute feedback, opinions, and ideas. We are happy to add people to the email network at any time.

Any feedback or interpretation issues with the unit standards that might inform the review panel can be forwarded to nqs@nzqa.govt.nz

Thank you in advance for your contribution to the ongoing quality of these standards.
