Business Administration unit standards
Current
Consultation on the reviewed business administration unit standards closed on 4 December. Feedback received was generally in support of the reviewed standards, and we have submitted the reviewed standards for quality assurance with only minor changes made to the consultation versions.
The updated draft landscape (DOCX, 26KB) of standards aligned to the reviewed Business administration and technology qualifications reflects further minor changes to the titles of 29030, 29036 and 29038.
Background
A review panel convened three times between September and November 2020 to:
- examine the current standards and to decide whether/how they need to be amended so that they continue to align to the reviewed business qualifications and meet identified needs
- examine coherence with the business administration standards reviewed in 2019 (DOC, 137KB)
- where relevant, decide whether other new standards are also needed.
NZQA National Qualifications Services (NQS) has consulted on the reviewed suite of Business Administration unit standards at Levels 3-6 that are aligned to meet the requirements of the NZ Business Administration and Technology qualifications, plus standard 329.
The review is of the following fifteen (15) unit standards in the Business Administration Services domain:
Subfield |
Domain |
ID |
Business Administration |
Business Administration Services |
329, 29024 - 29027, 29029 - 29038 |
The major changes proposed include:
- updating 14 reviewed standards, expiring one standard (29035), and adding two new standards
- changes to the titles of 29025, 29026, 29029, 29030, 29032, 29033, and 29036 - 29038 to reflect the reviewed qualifications
- reduction in credits for standards 29026, 29027, 29030 - 29032, 29034, 29036, and an increase in credits for 29037 to reflect the reviewed qualifications
- amendments to the outcomes and performance criteria to reflect the reviewed qualifications
- changes to the guidance information in the standards to reflect the new qualification conditions
- a proposed new level 4 standard to reflect graduate outcome 3 in the qualification
- a proposed new Level 5 standard which is broader than but embeds the intent of the expiring 29035
- clarification to the range of 1.2 and 1.3 for standard 329 (five records replaced 10 transactions)
A draft landscape of standards aligned to the reviewed Business administration and technology qualifications has been developed, which includes some additional standards outside of the scope of this review.
The qualifications are available at https://www.nzqa.govt.nz/qualifications-standards/qualifications/business-qualifications/.
The following table has links to each of the proposed reviewed and new standards, with changes to title, level and/or credits shown in bold and strikethrough.
