Cook Islands Tradition and Culture unit standards

NZQA National Qualifications Services (NQS) is reviewing three unit standards listed on the Directory of Assessment Standards (DAS) in the Cook Islands Tradition and Culture domain.

We invite expressions of interest in participating in the review, either as a member of the Review panel or as part of the supporting Email network.

Review panel

The review panel will include up to six members. Individually each panellist will:

  • have wide expertise, and credibility, prestige, and mana within the sector
  • have experience with relevant unit standards and/or achievement standards
  • understand and be committed to best practice in standards-based assessment
  • be able to work collaboratively for the common good with a view to how schools in the Cook Islands are engaging students in learning about their culture and traditions
  • be available for the scheduled panel meetings.

Collectively, the panel will as far as possible be representative of all stakeholder groups. Panellists will also be part of the email network.

Panellists are proposed to convene during June and July to:

  • examine the current standards and to decide whether/how they need to be amended so that they continue to meet identified needs.
  • where relevant, decide whether new standards are also needed.

We pay a fee for service to panellists, including for conference calls and e-meetings, and we meet all travel and accommodation expenses. It is proposed to convene the initial panel meeting in South Auckland, most likely on a weekend.
