NZQA National Qualifications Services (NQS) is reviewing unit standards listed on the Directory of Assessment Standards (DAS) in domain Sociology (Domain - Sociology ( during 2021, as part of their regular maintenance.

We invite expressions of interest in participating in the review, either as a member of the Review panel or as part of the supporting Email network.

Review panel

The review panel will have up to six members.  Individually each panellist will:

  • have wide expertise, and credibility, prestige, and mana within the sector
  • have direct experience with Sociology unit standards
  • understand and be committed to best practice in standards-based assessment
  • be able to work collaboratively for the common good, not just their own sector or interests
  • be available for the panel meeting(s).

Collectively, the panel will as far as possible be representative of all stakeholder groups. Panellists will also be part of the email network.

We propose to convene the panel for one or two days in July or August to:

  • where relevant, decide whether other new standards are also needed.

We pay a fee for service to panellists, including for conference calls and online meetings, and we meet all travel and accommodation expenses.
