Development of Human Resource Management and Marketing and Sales unit standards

This project has been put on hold and will be revisited in 2019.  Expressions of interest are still invited, and all those who have expressed interest will be contacted when the project is resumed.

NZQA National Qualifications Services (NQS) is about to begin the development of unit standards to support the new Marketing and Sales and Human Resource Management strands in the NZ Diplomas in Business at Levels 5 and 6. This will also include the review of the current standards in subfield Marketing and in domain Human Resource Management.

These two strands were added to the Diplomas in 2017 and, while unit standards are not a requirement for assessment, there is some demand for unit standards to support these strands, as there is for the compulsory core and most of the other strands of the diplomas.

We invite expressions of interest in participating in the review, either as a member of the development/review panel or as part of the supporting email network.

Development/review panel

There will be two panels: one for Human Resource Management and one for Marketing and Sales.

There will be up to six members on each panel.  Individually, each panellist will:

  • have wide expertise, and credibility, prestige, and mana within the sector
  • have experience with relevant unit standards
  • understand and be committed to best practice in standards-based assessment
  • be able to work collaboratively for the common good rather than just for own sector or interests
  • be available for both scheduled panel meetings.

Collectively, the panel will as far as possible be representative of all stakeholding groups.  Panellists will also be part of the email network.

Panellists will meet for two 2-day meetings to:

  • develop new standards and/or review current standards for the new strands, levels 5 and 6, in the NZ Business Diplomas
  • examine the remaining current standards and to decide whether/how they need to be amended so that they continue to meet identified needs. This will include managing any duplication issues between new and current standards
  • where relevant, the panel may decide that other new standards are also needed.

Panel meeting dates (all Tuesday-Wednesday):

  1. The Human Resource Management panel will meet on 10-11 April and 12-13 June.
  2. The Marketing and Sales panel will meet on 17-18 April and 19-20 June.

We may also conduct conference calls by phone or Skype as seems advisable.  If necessary, a third formal meeting will be organised at a convenient time.

We pay a fee for service to panellists, including for phone/Skype conference calls, and we meet all travel and accommodation expenses.

Email network
