Qualifications and standards

Supported Learning resources

National Qualifications Services is developing resources to provide learner and assessor guidance for assessment against Supported Learning (SL) unit standards. These resources are expected to be published by October 2019.

The target learners for these unit standards are people with learning disabilities, including those with intellectual disabilities i.e. those who require some form of support with their learning, either through additional resources, specialised equipment, or adapted teaching programmes.

Unit standards for New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living for Supported Learners

Supported Learning unit standards are designed to align to outcomes of the New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living for Supported Learners (Level 1) with an optional strand in Skills for Working [Ref: 2853].

Unit standards may be incorporated into programmes of study and used to provide assessment evidence towards the achievement of qualification outcomes. They may be used to assess parts or all of the qualification outcomes.

The direct relationship between the qualification outcomes and the relevant unit standards can be found in Unit standards for: New Zealand Certificate in Skills for Living for Supported Learners (Level 1) with an optional strand in Skills for Working [Ref: 2853] (PDF, 22KB).

If your organisation has consent to assess against Supported Learning unit standards, you can incorporate the standards, as appropriate, in your programmes of study. To find out which assessment standards your organisation has consent to assess, you can look under the NZQA website’s consent to assess scope for providers.
