This unit standard is intended for anyone involved in Civil Defence rescue functions. People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of the role and functions of Civil Defence general rescue at ground level; identify safety equipment, safety precautions and hazards in general rescue; and plan and carry out searches to locate casualties within a specified area, and move casualties to safe locations.
