Strategic Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the resin flooring sector with graduates capable of applying resin flooring with either a trowel applied or flow applied resin finish.

Graduates will be able to work unsupervised and perform to the required safety, technical, quality and productivity standards expected in the resin flooring industry.
Graduate profile
Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

- Apply knowledge of relevant legislation, industry standards, and workplace procedures to all aspects of resin flooring
- Operate to and maintain the required standards of a commercially competent tradesperson.
- Develop and maintain ongoing learning and emerging work practices specific to resin flooring applications.
- Provide leadership for people working in the resin flooring environment.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, suppliers and other trades to build and maintain positive working relationships.
- Perform all preparation and post-application activities applicable to resin flooring surfaced to manufacturer specifications.
- Integrate special resin products, components and systems into resin flooring applications to meet manufacturer specifications.

Graduates of the Trowel Applied Resin Mortar strand will also be able to:
- Plan and apply trowel applied resin mortar to a flooring surface to meet manufacturer specifications.

Graduates of the Flow Applied Resin Finishes strand will also be able to:
- Plan and apply flow applied resin finishes to a flooring surface to meet manufacturer specifications.
Education pathways
This qualification builds on the New Zealand Certificate in Building, Construction, and Allied Trades Skills (Level 3) [Ref: 3845].

Graduates of this qualification may progress to the New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trades Supervision (Level 5) with strands in Commercial Construction, Construction Related Manufacturing, Construction Related Trades, and Residential Building [Ref: 4237].
Employment pathways
