Strategic Purpose Statement |
Graduates will be able to use their advanced theory knowledge and practical skills in a hairdressing environment and be able to function effectively to provide services to clients. Graduates will be able to gain employment in a hair salon and they will be ready to pathway to Year 3 of the Hairdressing Industry Training Organisation (HITO) Hairdressing apprenticeship programme.

Entry Requirements |
Academic Requirements: Applicants under 20 years - Successful completion of the Certificate in Professional Hairdressing programme at Level 3, or Year 1 of the Hairdressing Apprenticeship programme or equivalent skill and knowledge.
Mature Students (20 years or older) Must have some experience in hairdressing. Applicants who have achieved hairdressing training equivalent to year one of the Hairdressing Apprenticeship programme or the Level 3 Professional Hairdressing programme, or similar, who have been out of employment in this industry for more than 5 years, will be required to complete a theoretical and practical skills assessment before being accepted on to the Advanced Professional Hairdressing programme. This will involve attending a one day workshop at NMIT, where they will be required to undertake a practical test and answer relevant theory questions. English Language Requirements: All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those students, whose first language is not English, are required to demonstrate: An IELTS Academic Score of 5.5 with no band lower than 5 issued within the past 2 years, OR Equivalent. Other: Likelihood of success on the programme demonstrated through interview or two Referees Reports. The physical fitness to withstand the demands of the hairdressing industry. |
