Strategic Purpose Statement |
Graduates will be able to pathway into the MIT Diploma in Bicultural Social Practice providing that they meet the requirements of the interview. Graduates of this Certificate will:
Be able to demonstrate communication processes that are used in establishing and maintaining relationships; Have sufficiently explored their own personal life journey in preparation for the critical self-reflection that is required for further study in social practice; Have developed an understanding of ethics and law by exploring the origins of law and tikanga in Aotearoa. Can articulate an understanding of the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the role of government and some legislation relevant to social practice. Have developed, or extended, knowledge of Te Reo Mâori and Tikanga Mâori; Be able to describe the history of the development of social work and community work in Aotearoa/New Zealand; Have developed a basic understanding of social practice responses to violence, abuse and neglect; Have developed the reading and writing skills required for entering a diploma level programme. |
