It includes situations where professional fire fighting services may not be available and improvisation may be necessary. People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate basic knowledge of fire; describe the causes, characteristics, and control of fires at civil infrastructure worksites; assess civil infrastructure worksite fires; implement emergency procedures for a fire and deal with a fire at a civil infrastructure worksite; and report fire incidents at civil infrastructure worksites.
