People credited with this unit standard are able to: explain the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work (HSW) Act 2015 and relevant regulations; describe and demonstrate use of personal protective equipment at a surface extraction site; isolate power sources to machinery and equipment; follow safety and emergency procedures at a surface extraction site; outline operational practices and procedures at the surface extraction site; and explain resource consent conditions at the surface extraction site.
