People credited with this unit standard are able to: describe safe practice requirements and health and safety legislation in relation to small drinking-water and wastewater systems; demonstrate knowledge of hazards relevant to small drinking-water and wastewater treatment processes; demonstrate knowledge of personal health risks, hygiene procedures, and preventative practices for people working with drinking-water and wastewater systems; and describe the actions required in the event of a hazardous situation in small drinking-water or wastewater systems.
