This unit standard is intended for people employed as a poleman in a cable harvesting operation. The poleman assists with productivity and safety around the cable yarder.
People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of risks associated with working on a cable harvesting landing as a poleman; unhook landed stems in the chute; monitor and inspect the condition of the carriage, wire ropes, rigging, and strops during unhooking, and replace, repair, or report as necessary; maintain the poleman''s equipment; and carry out poleman lineshift duties for the cable yarder.
